Number 3: Ornaments

Well, this is a little late for Christmas but here is what I made my 1st Graders for their little Christmas present this year.  I wanted something simple and cute for their tree.  This is what I came up with...

  What you'll need:
  • Cardboard
  • Letter die cuts (or cut your own letters/shapes)
  • Hot glue and hot glue gun
  • String or cord
  • Glitter
  • Date stamp

Step 1: I used the Ellison Die Cutter to cut out the first initial of each of their first names.  I cut them out of a light weight cardboard that I had in my classroom.

Step 2: When I had finished cutting out all 20 letters I decided to use the date stamp in my classroom to stamp Christmas of this year on each of the ornaments.  Just a little way to document.

Step 3: Next I attached a piece of green cord so it can be hung from a tree.

Step 4: Then I put a bead of hot glue down the front side and sprinkled red glitter on it right away so it would stick.  You may need to press it in the glitter on the plate if you want more to stick.

Step 5: It's ready to hang on the tree and enjoy:)

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

#2 Jewlery Holder

Do you have a lot of necklaces and bracelets?  I do.  My friend Sarah saw one like this and we both decided to make one...or two.  It's a fun easy way to store jewelery and gain a fun piece of art in your room.  The finished product will look something like this...

What you'll need:

Step 1: Find a tall fun glass jar or vase.  Mine was $1 from the Christmas Tree Shops.
Step 2: Fill it up about 2-3 inches with Castin’ Craft Casting Resin.  Follow the directions on the label..do outside if you can, fumes are not great for you.  We let the resin sit in the vase for about 6 hours or so before starting our project so that it was a gel like consistency.
Step 3: Next get wire of some sort (heavier the better) and place in liquid plastic when it is still gel like.  Place them how you like.  I used heavy black coated wire from the flower section (like this).  This picture is with green covered wire from that same section in the craft store.
Step 4: Make sure they will stay where you want them.  If not put tape holding them in place on the top of the vase/bottle.  Then let it set like this for 24+ hours until it is no longer gel but hard plastic.
Step 5: Use needle nose pliers to twist the wire like you want.  We did loops so the jewelery would stay put, like so...

Step 6: Hang your beautiful jewelery and enjoy!

Project #one

And so I begin...

Here is my first project to share with you.  It all started with a little time to spare before an appointment in a cute little town by the ocean.
I found these awesome metal type letters at an antique shop so...
I created a new business label using different fun fonts of type.
Then I glued them to a piece of wood with some liquid fusion (which is awesome).

Tada!  I have a new stamp for my tags and whatnot.
